The All Ireland Pollinator Plan

Dr Úna FitzPatrick, Project co-ordinator: All-Ireland Pollinator Plan and Head of Biodiversity Ireland visited Mosney Village to see first hand the work that was taking place by residents of all ages including Mosney Village personnel, to promote pollination throughout the village. Dr FitzPatrick jointly hosted a workshop that had been organised by the Mosney Village Community Room Coordinator in the allotments. The workshop was for families who wanted to learn more about promoting pollination with garden herbs. Each family received pots of herbs and the soil and tools needed to repot them and tend to them outside their homes. This ongoing initiative is also an important strand of integration. It caters for those who enjoy gardening and horticultural pursuits. What better way to integrate into the local community and engage with new neighbours, than to share a common interest in Irish garden plants, herbs and protecting and promoting Irish Bees.
